Presidential Coins

Can''t post this on the precious metals forum, that's for sure.

Got my 4 coin proof Presidential sets in a couple of days ago, they are pretty nice. I'll see if I can come up with a decent picture in the next couple of days. For $15, they are cool plus could be a nice present. There is a distant possibility that the initial set could be worth some money in a few years.

Looking foward to it Tom!

Hey, not to highjack this thread, but why do I have trouble posting pictures I take. It always says file exceeds limit. Am I missing something?? Any help would be nice as I'd like to share a couple of polish coins I got today with GIM.

This is screwy, me giving imputer advise, but I think you have to edit your pictures to make them smaller, then you can post them.

I figured that, and tried it a while back with no success. Maybe I'll try again.

Re: Presidential Coins

I read somewhere (maybe it was here but I don't remember) that these new presidential dollars are the first step towards a common North American currency, a.k.a. the Amero.

Let's do a little experiment. Compare the reverses of the new presidential dollar with the reverses of every other dollar coin ever minted by the United States (except the very first ones up to 1804 back when the definition of a dollar was clearly understood to be an amount of silver, not the words "dollar" on the coin). Anyway, notice the new coin is the only one that does not say "one dollar" on the back, it says $1. Well, most people wouldn't even think twice about this, just like most people didn't notice when Federal Reserve Notes began circulating over gold and silver certificates. Anyway, as everyone knows, the symbol of the American dollar is $, but this symbol also denotes the Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso. Now of course the modern peso doesn't compare with the value of the modern FRN, but how easy would it be, if the people from the Council on Foreign Relations have their way, to just announce to the people, "oh, well you already have Ameros, they're already in circulation", to help calm the American people if/when this switch occurs.

By the way I heard a great interview the other night of Dr. Jerome Corsi talking about his new book, The Late Great United States. Did anyone else happen to listen to this show?

I got my coins yesterday. I ordered 2 sets. I can think of worse things to spend my FRNs on.

There is a 197K file size limit to pictures posted on this site if you use the manage attachments button located below. Since virtually any picture that you take with a digital camera is going to be much bigger, you need some image editing software. You can see how big your picture is by right clicking on the picture icon where ever it is stored on your computer, click "properties" and it will show file size. Most of my pictures start life at 5-10 meg and I store them at high resolution. The picts that I post here are downsized to less than 197K using the "save for the web" function in Adobe Photoshop. Other software will do it too but I wouldn't know how to work them.

There is another way, example shown below. I store a lot of my shots online, for free, on a site called photobucket. If you go to the photobucket site(or any of the many others like it), copy the picture URL, and paste it into the box that opens up when you hit "insert image" button at the top of the box where you compose your posts (looks like a little mountain w/ a yellow sky), the picture will load regardless of the size. Saves the GIM site money too, since they don't have to pay for data storage. Another advantage of this method is the picture displays at full resolution, there is a lot of clarity in the shot below that would be lost with a 1/20 file size reduction.

Below is a picture that I took at a local cemetery

what is that little monument please tom?

btw I ordered the set too. I have collected two rolls each p and d of both the adams and washington and some loose ones too. I like the coins and only regret that people will hoard them so much that they wont be used in circulation.

I like to prowl all sorts of places with a camera. Atlanta's Oaklawn Cemetery was started just after the Civil War and has a large number of very interesting things. The above picture is a Mausoleum dating from the late 1800's, with no significance other than it's style. I looked inside and could tell that the main "inhabitants" were born in London in the early 1800's. I don't know if you saw the picture when I posted it it, but Oaklawn was where I found the memorial to the Confederate Unknown War Dead.

The picture below is, I think, interesting, especially in conjunction with the inscription below but out of sight, "The busy hands, the strong arms, the heart of oak, are dust" all indicate a very depressing view of death. This monument dates from 1917.

I'd like to see them in circulation too. I've bought two rolls of each of the first two issues, one roll gets saved, the other coins get put into a coin niche in my car and are spent.
